Reflections & To Do Lists…

Hi everyone! Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. I’ve honestly just been reflecting on things that have happened within the last twelve months and the goals that I’m determined to achieve as well as things that I would like to try. Earlier today, I thought about some of the people who have passed away within the last year. (Strange thing to think about, right?) Well, the number is 6… Six people have passed away. Six people who I at one point in life had a connection with. The majority of their deaths were totally unexpected. Some were unknowingly sick, some were aware that their time was short, some were at home. The youngest was in their 20’s with the oldest being in their late 90’s. The end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019 were a blur to me. It seemed as if so many people who I loved and admired were transitioning. People who I thought would live to see 100. All of them had God given gifts and talents and goals, just like you and me.

During all of my reflecting, I started to reflect on somethings that I’ve been going through and how our lives can change in an instant. Just think about the recent mass shootings that unfortunately took the lives of so many people and injured many others. Those people were just going about their everyday lives not knowing that they would not be returning home to their children, siblings, parents, nieces or nephews… Which is such a hard pill for me to swallow. I read a quote recently that read “Those who died yesterday had plans for this morning. And those who died this morning had plans for tonight.” This is one of the realist statements ever. While reflecting on this quote, I realized that I have so many things that I want to try that it’s almost overwhelming. I’m not sure about you, but I sometimes say, “I’ll just try next year” or “Maybe next season”… But the truth is, life is so short and i’m tired of pushing things to the back burner. So, I’ve come up with a small list that I’m going to share with you of things that I want to atleast give a try or work on to better myself. Some are ofcourse larger things than others but they are still things that I want to try. Here’s my short list…

*Tardiness – This is a HUGE one for me! I’m late often. It just seems like time gets away from me and next thing you know, I’m late! But lately (no pun intended) I’ve been feeling convicted for being late and so I’m determined to do better. And besides, it’s just unprofessional.
*Blogging/Vlogging – I’ve began the first steps with this blog but i’m determined to give it my very all for 12 months before I decide which route to take with it. By giving it my all, I’m talking posting blogs weekly and still working on it no matter how discouraged I may get.
*Start couponing – This is something that I’ve wanted to try for a few years now. Not like extreme couponing but just where i’m saving some money.
*Baking – Seriously I wanted to decorate cakes and cupcakes since I was around 13 years old. My sister and I even made a flyer “Cakes by Shon” but I never got around to it. I really want to give it a try.
*Record praise dance videos – This is sort of where my vlogging comes in at. As mentioned in my first blog, I’ve been praise dancing for years and I would like to do videos of everything I’ve learned over the years. This will hopefully lead to me hosting a dance workshop where people can come and learn about praise dancing in person!
*Having lunch with friends – I basically want to reconnect with people who I was once really close to. Unfortunately life sometimes gets in the way and before you know it, you’ve lost touch with people.
*Get Healthy – This one is extremely important because I really want to live my best life and live a longgggg time! I’m not treating my body like I should by eating junk food.

Sooooo, I know that these were quite a few goals and the funny part is that there’s more but I will discuss those in another post. I plan to start marking these off of my list asap! And although some of these may not be lifelong goals, I’m excited to atleast give them a try. Atleast I won’t have to ask myself “I wonder what would have happened if I had given that a try?” So, what are some personal things that you would like to check off? I want to read them! No matter how big or small you may think they are. If it’s something that you want to try then you should go for it! Can’t wait to give updates!
